Jewelry Making for Beginners: Right Angle Weaving Technique

It’s Monday and it’s time to learn to bead and make your own earrings! Let’s start the week with a free beading tutorial suited for beginners. The beading technique used in creating the earrings is a variation of the double needle right angle weaving technique. With this easy beading technique, you can make motifs, link them together that you can use to make necklaces and bracelets.

Materials and tools:
24 x 4mm blue crystals
30 x seed beads
2 jump rings
2 earring hooks
2 strand of nylon bead thread approximately 30cm long
Scissors
Flat nose pliers

Step 1:
Thread 3 x 4mm crystals into the nylon bead thread and pull it to the middle.

Cross both sets of thread through a seed bead passing the right-hand threads to the left and the left-hand threads to the right.

Tighten the beads by pulling the thread.

Step 2:
Thread in 2 seed beads at one end.

Follow by 3 4mm crystals.

Now, bring the end of the thread and pass it thru the seed bead (see arrow). All beads should be closed to each other. Ensure you pull the seed beads close to the nearest seed bead.

Tighten the thread.

Step 3:
Now turn to the right side of the earring and thread in 2 seed beads.

And followed by 3 4mm crystals.

Bring the end of the thread and pass it thru the seed bead (see arrow).

Tighten the string.

Step 4:
Thread in 1 seed bead each at both end.

Cross both ends of threads into a seed bead as shown in the picture.

Tighten the string.

Step 5:
Thread in 1 4mm crystals at both ends of the thread respectively.

Cross both ends of the threads into 1 4mm crystals.

Tighten the thread.

Step 6:
Thread in 4 seed beads at both end respectively.

Cross the strings into 1 seed bead.

Tighten the string.

Step 7:
Take one end of the string and thread the remaining of the string into the 3 to 4 seed beads next to it.

Make a knot at the end.

And tighten the knot. Ensure it is not loose.

Repeat the same for the other side.

Cut off excess string.

Step 8:
Put in jump ring and an earring hook.

Close the jump ring with the help of 2 pliers.

You are done with 1 side of the earring.
Make Your Own Earrings
Step 9:
Repeat the above process for the second earring.
You are done!
